A Rodeo To Remember… the 2012 Cedar Run Rodeo Weekend

slw_8973 Cedar Run Rodeo Weekend Attracts Record Crowds

It was good watchin’ as the Professional Rawhide Rodeo Company and iconic RCMP Musical Ride delivered an action-packed event at the recent

Cedar Run Rodeo Weekend. And that meant seating areas were full.

“We’re happy to announce that the third annual rodeo weekend at Cedar Run Horse Park enjoyed its highest attendance ever,”

said Cedar Run President Peter Lush. “This was a truly amazing family event that took advantage of every aspect of our state-of-the-art

horse park to deliver a fun-filled, action-packed weekend.”

Camden, Ohio’s Shawn Minor, the most decorated cowboy on the international circuit, continued his reign with first place finishes in both saddle and bareback bronc riding.

Other 2012 Cedar Run Rodeo Weekend champions include:

    • Steer Wrestling: Brandon Hennings (Stouffville, Ontario)
    • Breakaway Roping: Paige Van Westerop (Lakeside, Ontario)
    • Barrel Racing: Terri Robertson (Swartz Creek, Michigan)
    • Junior Barrel Racing: Alana Pickrell (Queensville, Ontario)
    • Tiedown Roping: Ross Scully (Hillsburgh, Ontario)
    • Bull Riding: Ian Charman (Lindsay, Ontario) and Tyler Ewart (London, Ontario)

“Not only did we have big performances and big rides, but our family focus also paid off,” added Lush, pointing to the expanded Kid’s Zone; zip line

and military vehicle rides; live performances; and, larger vendor village – all hugely popular. “Due to the weekend’s overwhelming success,

we were able to present a cheque in the amount of $5,000 to representatives from Camp Maple Leaf, and we couldn’t be more pleased,” he added.

The Professional Rawhide Rodeo performers and RCMP Musical Ride have left town, but the excitement still lingers as Cedar Run Horse Park

reflects on lasting images from a stellar rodeo weekend in August.

“Everyone pulled together and the result was a spectacular, family focused weekend enjoyed by all,” said Cedar Run president Peter Lush,

announcing that photos are ready for viewing on the horse park’s website.

At the same time, Lush acknowledged the ongoing support of local sponsors who play a vital role in helping to bring high-quality events like the professional rodeo circuit

to smaller communities.  Not only do rodeo sponsors gain individual recognition – with 51 per cent of rodeo attendees reporting that they are more

likely to buy a product because it was a rodeo sponsor – but they also serve the greater good since events like the rodeo provide a significant boost to the overall local economy.

Sponsorship levels vary from Bronze to Platinum and include benefits such as VIP passes, signage, display areas, PA announcements and more. This year’s rodeo partners included:

“The Cedar Run Rodeo Weekend was a win-win for all,” said Lush, “and we look forward to sharing even more exciting times at the horse park ahead.”
