Last of the Red
Hot Lovers –
a ‘not so’
romantic comedy
By Neil Simon
September 19-22 and
25-29, 2007
This sparkling classic
comedy centers around middle-aged restaurateur who
yearns for a passionate extramarital affair to take
him out of his dreary, routine existence. Barney
embarks on a series of encounters with three very
different women: a rather loose, unemotional smoker;
a trendy would-be actress and a feisty housewife who
suffers from depression. He attempts to seduce these
wildly unsuitable candidates and sample the sexual
revolution during three afternoons of unbridled
anticlimax in his mother's apartment.
Sharp and snappy, hilarious, yet at times
poignant, it’s classic Neil Simon.
