WASAGA BEACH ONTARIO
The
Beach |
Beach Area 1
If you
crave the smell of suntan oil and the hustle and the bustle on the
shore, stick to Beach Area One, home to shops, restaurants, nightly
entertainment, mini golf and water slides. This is where the crowd is
younger and the bathing suits are skimpier.
This is
also the site of Wasaga's new Special Events Venue, where you'll find
everything from exciting beach volleyball tournaments, Corvette Weekend
(Beach Cruize), Vintage auto displays to Kitefest and Fireworks.
But Wasaga
Beach Provincial Park has eight beach area (entry fees for vehicles
only), each with its own washrooms, change facilities and picnic tables.
As a rule, the farther west you go, the quieter and less crowded the
beaches become. Families stake out picnic tables and set up camp for the
day, building sand castles, reading paperbacks and relaxing in the sun.
As for Nottawasaga Bay itself, remember that you can wade out quite a
distance in the shallow water and sandbars, making it ideal for
children.

Wasaga Beach Provincial Park
Within the Town of Wasaga Beach is a
Provincial Park, 14 km in length, consisting of 350 acres of beach and
picnic areas. There are six gated beach areas (areas 1-6) and two
ungated beach areas (Allenwood and New Wasaga Beach). While provincial
cut-backs have eliminated the Beach Patrol Program in Wasaga Beach,
teams consisting of a qualified lifeguard and a Park warden patrol the
beach daily on ATV's and mountain bikes. A patrol boat augments these
teams, providing safe surroundings for a visit to the beach. |
 |
Blueberry Trails
The 26 Kilometer Blueberry Plains Trails are
located in the 500 hectare Dunes area of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park.
The combination of raised beach ridges and swales, various sand dune
features and rare plant life make this area unique in Ontario. It is
highly sensitive to human disturbances and therefore has been set aside
as a nature reserve zone of the park. |
 |
The Dunes
Enjoy spectacular scenery and
explore the riverside trails. The pristine beauty of this area of Wasaga
Beach is almost a secret, even among locals! You'll need a map to find
the dunes as they are hidden behind a residential neighbourhood.
Click Here for a map. Look for Sunset Court on the south side
of the Nottawasaga River. Climb up the hill for a view you won't forget. |
