Lorne Elliott - From CBC's
Madly Off in All Directions
Thursday, November 15, 2007 - 8:00pm -
10:00pm
Location: The Opera House
Lorne Elliott has performed from
Newfoundland to New York City, from Los Angeles to Australia and
points in between. Lorne started performing in 1974 as a folk
musician in East Coast Canada. At the same time he kept writing
fiction as well as songs, monologues and one-liners. The outcome of
such training is a very special show of comedy and music, totally
original, entertaining, up-lifting and foolish enough to make
everybody laugh. Along with his unique and wacky performance style,
it is the timelessness of his material, joined with keen
observations of today's trends that make Lorne Elliott's work so
special. www.lorne-elliott.com Tickets $35

BEAVER VALLEY CONCERT SOCIETY -18TH SEASON
The Beaver Valley Concert Society returns for it's eighteenth season
with an eclectic mix of genres, talent and originality.
The second concert, on November 17, 2007,
will feature Caroline Leonardelli, Harpist, and Julie Nesrallah,
Mezzo Soprano, in a fascinating programme of Debussy, Faure and
Bellini. Two successful solo artists have come together to create an
unusual and compelling duet of harp and voice - a sweet resonance
for the onset of longer nights.
The third concert, on April 5, 2008,
features the glamourous Madawaska Quartet. Four women (Sarah Fraser
Raff, violin; Rebecca van der Post, violin; Anna Redekov, viola; Amy
Laing, cello;) weave a magical mix of Verdi, Dvorak, Puccini, Mozart
and others with charm and vivacity. They bring the experience of six
years of collaboration, touring and musical adventures to the
evening.
The final concert, on May 3, 2008, is
entitled 'If Music Be The Food of Love', performed by Page Two and
Friends, involving instrumentalists and actors in an interactive
programme of readings and music from Purcell to Sondheim dealing
with the eternal theme of love. Not to be missed!
BVCS concerts are held in the United Church
in Thornbury, at 8:00 pm. Tickets are available at a number of local
